I’m very happy to announce the latest addition to my family. Baby Cael Showed up on Wednesday Nov 30th at 8:19pm weighing 6 lbs 7 oz and 18 1/2 inches. He’s a little guy and a week early. But everyone is doing great and we are already home! Going to take it easy for the next few days and steal sleep when I can.
Goodbye Sleep
Silence
Something I’ve been working on during my lunch breaks to help myself learn sculpting better.
Found an image of this guy while doing a search for Alien ref. Didn’t realize it was from Dr. Who until a co-worker pointed it out. Love the design of these guys.
The Dig
Here is something inspired by the old lucas arts adventure game ‘The Dig’.
I took screenshots of the entire process, I’ll post a .gif of the entire thing from start to finish shortly.
Eat 3D contest progress

Still plugging away at it. I’ve got a bit more to go before I start on the high poly fun.
Eat 3D mini scene progress
Made some progress on my Eat3d NextGen small scene challenge. I’m only a few hours into it. With the holidays right around the corner it’s hard to find the time. But I love environment art and I’ll just have to stay focused and crank it out. I decided to go with my own take on hephaestus forge from greek mythology. Thanks for checking it out and stay tuned!

Dominance War!!

Since I missed the first week of the contest I spent the day playing catch up. Here is my quickie concept. I had the idea of the man in the iron mask stuck in my head. Decided to run with it.

Followed by my first pass at the model.

I’ve got lots of tweaking and cleanup to do, hopefully that will buy me enough tri’s that I can add the grenades and some other details.
SEIGE 2010
If you get a chance come check out SIEGE 2010 here in Atlanta. Lots of great game development information from some awesome speakers and local dev studios. I’ll be taking part in two panels, one aimed at environment art and another on creating games for kids. The 2nd panel will be hosted by the Cartoon Network Game Studio, and will feature a bunch of the awesome guys on the team. If you get a chance go check out some panels. Good times will be had by all!
Speed Paintings
Couple of Speed paintings I did for a drawing challenge at work. The theme was dragons.

Sword in the Stone: Update Two
I do believe I chose the wrong week to start this mini challenge. I’ve had some family in town and I haven’t had a chance to work on it since my last post. So I’m in a bit of a scramble. The UV’s are laid out, and I did a very quick texture pass. I’ll be finishing that up next.
Everything is called Peachtree?
I finally made the 2,000 mile trip to my new home. There were a few bumps, a couple road hazards, a handful of nights in hotels of varying quality, and a whole lot of miles.
I took a few pics of the journey, and figured I’d post them.
Here is the last image of my beautiful Utah mountains. I don’t like the snow, but I’m sure I’ll come to miss it. My parents flew in from their home in Shanghai China to help us move everything. My dad drove the white trailer contained all of our possessions while I followed behind in my car.
Can’t have a good road trip without something getting in the way. Our obstacle ended up being a flat tire about 200 miles down the road. Luckily it happened about 5 minutes outside of Green River, Wyoming. We took the tire off, threw it in the back of my chariot, and flew down the road. We found a tire place that closed in 20 minutes. They changed it in ten. We drove back, put the tire back on, and off we went! I wish I got a picture of the tire. But there wasn’t much left other than a few pieces of stringy rubber on a dirty old rim.
My tire hauling chariot. Amazingly I pulled around 25-26 mpg the whole way. Shortly after we fixed the tire we stopped for the night. I didn’t know Wyoming had scary places, but the place we stopped was scary. I don’t even remember the town or the name of the motel. But I drove around for a good half an hour looking for a restaurant to pickup dinner for everyone. And all I saw was seedy looking bars, abandoned vandalized buildings, and a bunch of guys with huge trucks giving me the evil eye. Eventually I found a Domino’s and scrambled back. That night the wind was so strong if sounded like a train right outside our window. Though I never did go out and check, it could have been an actual train.
After Wyoming it was onto Nebraska. It pretty much looked the same the whole way through. Lots of flat straight roads. If it wasn’t so windy I would have fallen asleep. We had 50-60 mph gust the whole time. We spent the night in a town called Grand Island, Nebraska. The place we stayed was awesome. By far the nicest place on the way out. It was a hotel with a gas station right off the freeway. I wish I got more photo’s.
Things did get prettier as he went through Eastern Nebraska and Missouri. Love the Greenery and the gentle rolling hills.
The funnest part was driving through the twisty canyons of Tennessee, If I wasn’t following the big trailer I’m sure I’d have a blast cruising that place. We were hesitant to go through Tennessee because of all the flooding only a few short days earlier. But to go another route would have taken us 200 miles and many hours out of the way. So we decided to take our chances. It turned out to be a good idea. By that time most of the flooding was gone and it sure was pretty country. I loved the high rock walls and all the vegetation.
And into our new home state. I’ve been here about a week now. And so far I’m loving it. Everyone is very friendly and polite. We found a house to rent a couple of days after we arrived in a nice little neighborhood north of Atlanta in Marietta. We couldn’t pack our living room because we didn’t have enough room in the trailer, and we didn’t bring our washer and dryer because they were very old. Replacing those things have hurt the most. My wallet feels like it’s bleeding. But we’re getting settled in and everything is good.
Now that I’m getting back on schedule I’ll be continuing work on my game. I have a lot of time to think about it on the 2,000 mile trip out here, and I’m excited to get back into production.
Thanks for checking it out!
